Here are some news tidbits for this week:
Alexandra has been quoted for several news stories for Beth Gutcheon's new book publicity. Beth Gutcheon is a novelist who is having a book come out on Danish resistence during the WWII. Alexandra had made a 1995 documentary entitled, “The Power of Conscience: The Danish Resistance and the Rescue of the Jews”. Her father was part of the resistence. Alexrandra was smuggled out of Denmark as a baby.
The article where she is mentioned is available here.
After the rejection by the WB of the 2004 Pilot, Mark Verheiden returned to his roots with comic books. His first was #217 of the Superman series which came out in May. July saw the sell out of #219 and August has seen a sell out of #220.
The latest news on the TV front for Mark is the debut of his Battlestar Galatica episode on September 9, 2005 on the Sci-Fi Channel. He is also being billed as Consulting Producer.
Lucy Lawless of Xena fame will be the guest star of "Final Cut." Be sure to set your VCR or TIVO.
There is going to be more news later on the fall sci-fi/horror show debut of several new shows once dates of airing are announced.
The 1991 Dark Shadows Revival with Ben Cross (Barnabas), Joanna Going (Victoria), Jean Simmons (Elizabeth), Barbara Steele (Julia), Michael T. Weiss (Joe), Adrian Paul (Jeremiah) and Roy Thinnes (Roger) is being released by MGM as a DVD on October 18, 2005. So, not to be confused, I reported earlier that MPI would not be releasing this gem. Thus, MPI did not tell me a big huge fib.
However, here is the kicker. MPI released this short Dark Shadows remake with extended footage at both the beginning and end of the series. This extended footage is not going to be included on the DVD. Therefore, hang on to those tapes or get them while you still can as they are still going out of print from MPI Home Video.
The DVD is listing for $39.95 for three discs but DVDPlanet.Com is listing it for $27.97.
